Ryan Weiss, PFS Board of Directors nominee, discusses platform points
Greetings! Since there’s about two more weeks left to get votes in for the Philadelphia Folk Song Society Board of Directors, I wanted to reach out to give some insight into my platform, goals, and mission.
A main platform point in my nomination platform is transparent, community based, organic brand growth. I firmly believe that the Philadelphia Folk Song Society (PFS) has the ability to grow by leaps and bounds within the coming years within the Philadelphia and Greater Philadelphia area. There is no shortage of willing business entities, schools, organizations, etc., that would appreciate a partnership with the PFS. An initial goal would be to ensure that the area immediately surrounding the societies main fundraiser, The Philadelphia Folk Festival, is well aware that the festival and the society are connected. An external marketing target would start with the Harleysville area and move out to the surrounding Lansdale area and beyond to expand opportunities within the Montgomery, Bucks, Berks, Chester and Lehigh County areas.
I firmly believe in the need for diversity within the Philadelphia Folk Song Society Board of Directors. This includes championing to identify potential candidates with a diverse background and skill sets for future elections and service terms. As an entity with great opportunity to grow, we must ensure that all opportunities and view points are vetted and examined. Exploring outside of the comfort zone is a paramount to successful growth.
Lastly, for now, I want to stress the importance of me working for you, the members. I will continue to be transparent and open to discussion on all matters that require members input. Being a board member is a service position, which is to serve the needs of the members in the best interest and growth of the society.
I look forward to speaking to anyone that has questions. My contact info is listed below.
